Clemens Schick (born 15 February 1972) is a renowned German actor, model, political activist, and human rights advocate. Starting his acting career in 1998, he has since played a part in more than 70 films and many German and international TV productions. Schick has also graced the stage of major theaters, performing in classical plays like William Shakespeare’s Richard III, Friedrich Schiller’s Don Carlos, and Tennessee Williams’ Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Apart from acting, Schick is politically active and an eminent member of the German Social Democratic Party (SPD). As an advocate for human rights, he sits on the committee of the German Human Rights Watch chapter.
Born in Tübingen, West Germany, Schick is the son of a teacher and a prosecutor, and has four siblings. After finishing his high school education in Stuttgart, he continued to hone his acting craft at the Academy of Performing Arts (AdK) in Ulm, and later at the Berlin School of Drama. Identifying as homosexual, Schick has always been open about his sexuality and personal life, including his relationships. He lives in the vibrant neighborhood of Kreuzberg in central Berlin. In his theatrical pursuits, he has received critical acclaim for various roles in German theaters. His predominant appearances are in Hollywood productions and independent cinema, including his notable role in the 21st James Bond movie, Casino Royale. In his extensive career, Schick has worked diligently in television, and lately, he has appeared in Netflix-produced bio-pic Sergio and the Netflix Original Kidnapping Stella. Schick is also known for his volunteer work and political engagement, and he enjoys modeling, notably for US photographer Nan Goldin and as a brand ambassador for German luxury brand Montblanc.
