**Damon Kyle Wayans Sr.** is an acclaimed American stand-up comedian, actor, producer, and writer. Born in Harlem, New York in 1960, Wayans entered the world of stand-up comedy in 1982, having then a substantial career throughout the 1980s including a part on the NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live. He gained prominence as a writer and performer on Fox's sketch comedy show In Living Color, from 1990–1992, Waynehead from 1996–1997, and Damon in 1998. Over the years, he has starred in numerous films and television shows, some of which he has co-produced or co-written, including Mo Money, The Last Boy Scout, Major Payne, Bulletproof, and the sitcom My Wife and Kids. From 2016 to 2019, he was a pivotal part of the Fox television series Lethal Weapon, playing Roger Murtaugh. Wayans has a deep-seated lineage in entertainment, being part of the Wayans family. Making a swift transition to films after In Living Color, he headlined in successful ventures such as Mo' Money, The Last Boy Scout, Major Payne, Celtic Pride, Bulletproof, and The Great White Hype. He has also written and starred in films like Blankman. His journey extends to television, where he produced Waynehead, a cartoon loosely based on his childhood, and was the executive producer of drama 413 Hope St. He performed in the comedy television series Damon, where his role was that of a detective from Chicago. His recent return to television has been announced where he will be seen with his son Damon Jr. on the CBS sitcom Poppa's House, premiering in the fall of 2024.
