David Jensen

David Allan 'Kid' Jensen, born on 4 July 1950, is a Canadian-born British radio DJ and television presenter. He kickstarted his illustrious career at a tender age of sixteen, playing jazz and classical music on CJOV-FM, on a show titled Music For Dining, sponsored by a number of local funeral parlours. Jensen joined Radio Luxembourg when he was eighteen years old and got his widely-known nickname 'Kid' Jensen from Paul Burnett. His popularity began to soar in Britain by 1974, and he hosted pop shows on ITV and Radio Trent (now Capital East Midlands) in Nottingham. Jensen's BBC Radio 1 journey started in 1976 and he championed many acts who went on to achieve substantial commercial success, notably The Police and Gary Numan.

In 1984, Jensen joined London's Capital FM and hosted weekday mid-morning show and weekday drivetime. He continued to be the 'face' of pop music for ITV and regularly commented on pop-related stories in ITN and Sky News bulletins even after he left Network Chart in 1993. Being a man of many talents, Jensen also presented various children's programmes including Worldwise and Popquest. In 1998, he worked for Heart 106.2, presented the weekday drivetime show and Sunday afternoon CD chart show Kid Jensen's CD Countdown. Throughout his career, Jensen made valuable contributions to different radio shows and stations like Harmony 105.4, Planet Rock, Smooth Radio, and online station United DJs. He is currently hosting David Jensen's Jazz on Jazz FM and Kid Jensen's 70s on Boom Radio.
