Devid Striesow

Devid Striesow, born on 1st October 1973 in Bergen auf Rügen, East Germany, is a prolific German actor. After his school education, he moved to Berlin with plans to start an apprenticeship as a goldsmith, but these plans were thwarted when the goldsmith's business went bankrupt. The fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 caused a shift in his life plans which led him to return to school to complete his Abitur. He dipped his toes in the world of jazz music studying jazz guitar before ultimately applying to the esteemed Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts, Berlin. His tenure at the academy coincided with fellow acclaimed actors Nina Hoss and Fritzi Haberlandt, they all graduated in 1999. Devid has built a successful career across theatre, film and television. He has been actively performing since 1999. Among his notable works, he starred as 'Sturmbannführer Herzog' (Bernhard Krüger) in Stefan Ruzowitzky's 2007 film The Counterfeiters which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film that year. Apart from being an actor, Striesow also lends his voice to audiobooks.
