**Dianne Evelyn Wiest**, an American actress, was born on March 28, 1948. Her illustrious career began in the 1970s and is adorned with numerous accolades. She is a recipient of two Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actress for her performances in 1986's *Hannah and Her Sisters* and 1994's *Bullets Over Broadway*, both directed by Woody Allen. Additionally, she won a Golden Globe Award for *Bullets Over Broadway*, the 1997 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for *Road to Avonlea*, and the 2008 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for *In Treatment*. Furthermore, Wiest also received an Academy Award nomination for her role in 1989's *Parenthood*. Her filmography includes diverse appearances in iconic movies such as *Footloose, The Purple Rose of Cairo, Radio Days, Edward Scissorhands, The Birdcage*, and *Rabbit Hole*. Her television career spans pivotal roles in series like *Law & Order* and the CBS comedy *Life in Pieces*. Wiest's career also extends to a successful theatrical endeavor. She had played in Shakespearean productions, been a troupe member at the Arena Stage in Washington, D.C., and starred in numerous off-Broadway and Broadway performances like *Solitaire/Double Solitaire*, *Happy Birthday, Wanda June*, and *Ashes*. Wiest continued to contribute to theatre during the 1990s and the early 2000s, starring in Oscar Wilde's *Salome* and Kathleen Tolan's *Memory House*.
