Elaine Stritch

**Elaine Stritch** was an iconic American actress known for her work on Broadway and later, on television. She made her professional stage debut in 1944 and was in several stage plays, musicals, films, and television series. In fact, her contributions to theatre earned her an induction into the American Theater Hall of Fame in 1995. Stritch had diversified talents and carried herself with distinct bravado. She had her Broadway debut in the 1946 comedy *Loco* and earned four Tony nominations. Among her notable performances include the *Noël Coward musical Sail Away* and the *Stephen Sondheim musical Company*. Kendt for her vivid one-woman shows, Elaine Stritch at Liberty bagged the 2002 Tony Award for Best Special Theatrical Event. In the 1970s, Stritch moved to London and featured in numerous West End productions. Besides her stage performances, Stritch also had a remarkable television career. Her guest role on Law & Order earned her an Emmy in 1993, and her one-woman show *Elaine Stritch at Liberty* also received an Emmy in 2004. From 2007 to 2012, she played Colleen Donaghy, a recurring role on the NBC sitcom 30 Rock, which earned her another Emmy in 2007.
