Emilie Ullerup

Emilie Ullerup‑Petersen was born on 27 October 1984 in Copenhagen, Denmark, the daughter of Ove Ullerup, a distinguished diplomat who served as the Danish ambassador to Vietnam and later to Sweden. Growing up in a multicultural environment, she became fluent in Danish, English and Vietnamese, a skill she later credited to her father's overseas postings. After completing high school in Copenhagen in 2003, Emilie pursued her passion for the performing arts by relocating to Vancouver, British Columbia, where she enrolled at the Vancouver Film School, graduating in 2005. Her early exposure to international cultures and her multilingual abilities provided a unique edge that would later enhance her on‑screen versatility, allowing her to portray characters from diverse backgrounds with authenticity and depth.

Ullerup burst onto the television scene in 2006 with her debut as Julia Brynn on the Battlestar Galactica remake, quickly gaining recognition for her strong screen presence. She achieved widespread acclaim as Ashley Magnus in the science‑fiction series Sanctuary, a role that endeared her to a dedicated fan base and sparked intense discussions when her character was written out. She continued to expand her repertoire with memorable performances such as Bree O'Brien in Hallmark Channel’s drama Chesapeake Shores, and recurring appearances as Dale Travers in the Signed, Sealed, Delivered film series. In addition to her acting career, Emilie faced a significant health challenge in 2008 when a benign but aggressive spinal tumor required surgery that removed part of her coccyx and sacrum; remarkably, she returned to work within five months. Her personal life flourished as she married photographer Kyle Cassie in August 2018, and the couple welcomed two children, Wilde and Coco, in 2020 and 2022 respectively. Emilie’s talent has been recognized with a 2008 Leo Award for Best Lead Performance in JPod, and she continues to captivate audiences with roles in projects like the Lifetime film Mormon Mom Gone Wrong: The Ruby Franke Story (2024).
