Emily Skeggs, born on July 10, 1990, is a highly-acclaimed American actress and singer. She began her acting journey at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School, where she played the role of Oolie/Donna in City of Angels alongside Azealia Banks. At Emerson College, she extended her theater experience by playing as Lady Macbeth in Macbeth, Hero in Much Ado About Nothing, and Maid Marian in Robin Hood. Consecutively, she launched her career, featuring in various productions and winning the hearts of critics and audiences alike. In 2008, Skeggs started her performance in Off-Broadway Irish Rep in Take Me Along, portraying the character Muriel. The same year, she was also seen at the New York International Fringe Festival, performing in the musical Ripcords. Her career took a leap in 2013 when she replaced Alexandra Socha for the roles of Joan and Medium Alison in the Off-Broadway production of Fun Home, which eventually led her to make her Broadway debut in 2015. Her stellar performance earned her a nomination for the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical and also led to a Theatre World Award. In 2017, she skillfully portrayed the young version of activist Roma Guy in the ABC miniseries When We Rise, focusing on several decades of the LGBT civil rights movement in the United States.
