Fernando Chien

**Fernando Chien**, sometimes credited as **Funan Chien**, is a seasoned Taiwanese actor and stunt performer born on October 6, 1974. He gained notoriety through his roles in the movie *Fast Five* and the TNT action show *The Last Ship*. Born as Chien Fu-Nan in Taipei, Taiwan, he adopted the name Fernando upon moving to Canada. Fernando had an early interest in acting and was already performing in musical theater productions during his college years. Originally practicing Taekwondo and Karate at the tender age of six, he didn't start practicing martial arts earnestly until his 20s when he studied Hung-Gar Kung fu in Montreal, Quebec. In 2002, he relocated to Los Angeles to chase his aspirations in film and TV. Alongside, he expanded his martial arts repertoire by learning Wushu, Jiu-Jitsu, and Muay Thai. He trained under illustrious mentors Gokor Chivichyan and Gene LeBell at the Hayastan MMA Academy, now practicing at the Werdum Combat Team under Fabricio Werdum and Andrew Hagar. He hits the balance between acting and stunt performing and is a part of the acclaimed action team Reel Kick. Fernando honed his acting at Michael Beach's Actors Gym and Lee Strasberg Studio, among others. He has been a part of multiple well-received films and TV shows like *Crank*, *The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor*, *Red Dawn*, *Fast Five*, *Iron Man 3*, *NCIS: Los Angeles*, *The Guild*, and *Star Trek: Enterprise*. In 2016, he also portrayed the recurring role of President Peng Wu on TNT's *The Last Ship*. The vast spectrum of experience under his belt testifies to his prowess and artistic versatility.
