François Civil

François Civil, born in Paris, France on 29 January 1990, is a noteworthy French actor who embarked on his acting career in 2005. He has a significant role in both French and English-language productions and is known for his roles in a variety of films such as Frank (2014), As Above, So Below (2014), and Burn Out (2017) among others. Civil notably provided the voice for Buzz Lightyear in the French version of Lightyear (2022). In addition to film, Civil made his mark on television and featured prominently in series such as the Disney Channel teen sitcom Trop la Classe! (2006) and the Netflix comedy miniseries Fiasco (2024).

Civil's bilingualism in French and English, along with intermediate skills in both Spanish and Italian, marked him as a versatile actor. Civil's commitment to acting began at a young age; he was motivated to sign up for an acting class at age fourteen to develop a relationship with a girl in his class. Although the affection was not reciprocated, he developed a love for theatre instead. He made a brief stint at the French drama school 'Cours Florent', which he didn't like. However, Civil's journey in this field of acting began when, after spotting him at a school play, the mother of one of Civil's classmates (who was also a casting director) recommended that he should attend auditions, which led to him landing a role in his first film, Le Cactus. Civil landed his biggest commercial success in portraying D'Artagnan in The Three Musketeers: D'Artagnan (2023) and The Three Musketeers: Milady (2023), with over 3 million tickets sold in France. He was named Actor of the Year by GQ France's Men of the Year Awards in 2023.
