Geoffrey Roy Rush, born on July 6, 1951, is a renowned Australian actor. Rush achieved acclaim through his work in both stage and screen, often performing eccentric roles. His accolades include an Academy Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, a Tony Award, reprised as the distinguished Triple Crown of Acting. In addition, he has three BAFTA Awards and two Golden Globe Awards to his name. As the founding president of the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts, Rush also earned his recognition as the 2012 Australian of the Year.

Rush's professional acting career commenced with the Queensland Theatre Company in 1971. He earned his acting stripes from the L'École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq, where he studied for two years beginning in 1975. Rush's roles span widely, earning him recognition and fame in productions such as Waiting for Godot, The Winter's Tale and The Importance of Being Earnest. His notable films include Shine (1996), Shakespeare in Love (1998), Quills (2000), The King's Speech (2010), and the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise (2003–2017). Premiering on television, Rush received multiple accolades for his performances as comedian Peter Sellers in the HBO film The Life and Death of Peter Sellers (2004), and scientist Albert Einstein in National Geographic anthology series Genius (2017).
