Hanna van Vliet

Hanna van Vliet is a Dutch actress best known for her groundbreaking work in the critically acclaimed series Anne+. Born on 6 June 1992 in Gorinchem, Netherlands, she began her journey in the performing arts at the tender age of six, spending her formative years at Het Jeugdtheaterhuis Gouda where she cultivated a deep passion for the stage. After completing her formal education at the Amsterdamse Theater & Kleinkunstacademie in 2014, she quickly transitioned to professional theatre, landing the lead role in a Pippi Longstocking musical that showcased her versatility and vocal talent. The following year she starred in a musical adaptation of The Twins, earning a Musical Award nomination for Best Female Lead in a major musical, a testament to her emerging prominence in Dutch musical theatre. Her theatrical excellence continued with a 2018 nomination for Best Supporting Actor for her performance in Fiddler on the Roof, underscoring her ability to inhabit diverse characters with nuance and emotional depth. Van Vliet made her cinematic debut in 2017 as Winnie in Ron Goossens, Low Budget Stuntman, marking her entry into the film industry. However, it was the creation and portrayal of Anne Verbeek in the Anne+ series that propelled her onto the international stage; the series premiered at the Netherlands Film Festival in 2018, later expanded to Netflix in 2021, and culminated in a feature film release across the Netherlands, Belgium, and globally. Her compelling performance earned her a Golden Calf nomination for Best Actress in Television Drama and, in 2022, the prestigious Shooting Stars Award at the Berlinale, recognizing her as one of Europe’s most promising young talents.
