Jacob Lofland

Jacob Lofland, born Jacob Seth Lofland on July 30, 1996, in the small town of Briggsville, Arkansas, grew up as the son of Billy and Debra Lofland. From a young age he was fascinated by outdoor activities, especially boating and cycle riding, which later became pivotal in his breakthrough casting. At age fifteen, after his mother spotted a regional casting notice seeking a local boy for Jeff Nichols' film Mud, Jacob submitted an application and was soon flying to Austin for an audition. Within weeks he secured the role of Neckbone, a performance that earned him critical attention alongside veterans Matthew McConaughey and Tye Sheridan. Mud premiered in 2012 and established Lofland as a promising young talent in independent cinema. Following the success of his debut, Lofland continued to build his résumé with a supporting role in the Sundance‑selected drama Little Accidents (2013), where his nuanced portrayal contributed to the film’s festival buzz. In 2014 he expanded into television, joining the fifth season of the acclaimed series Justified, demonstrating his ability to transition between film and TV formats. The next year marked his entry into mainstream franchise territory when he was cast as Aris in Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015), a role he reprised in Maze Runner: The Death Cure (2018), solidifying his presence in the young‑adult action genre. During this period Lofland also appeared as a young Eli McCullough in the period drama The Son (2017), showcasing his range in period pieces. In 2024 he ventured into streaming with a recurring part as Cooper Norris in Paramount+’s Landman, created by Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace, and he made a cameo in the much‑anticipated Joker: Folie à Deux.
