James Monroe Iglehart

American actor and singer James Monroe Iglehart is best known for his Tony Award-winning performance as the Genie in the original Broadway production of Aladdin. Born on September 4, 1974, in Hayward, California, Iglehart's career took off when he took on the roles of the Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson in the Broadway cast of Hamilton in April 2017. He recreated the role of King Arthur in the 2023 Broadway revival of Spamalot and delivered a memorable performance as Louis Armstrong in A Wonderful World. He also played Billy Flynn in Chicago: The Musical, and his voice can be heard as Steve Jones in Broadway's first original podcast soap opera, As The Curtain Rises. Iglehart's influence extends beyond the stage, as he joined the cast of the animated web series Helluva Boss as both the Demon Lord of Lust, Asmodeus/Ozzie, and hellhound bodyguard Vortex. He also made appearances in Hazbin Hotel as Zestial and displayed his writing skills with one-shots featuring Spider-Man for Marvel Comics. Iglehart was born and raised in Hayward, California, along with his brother. His parents were both involved in the arts, with his mother being a former high school choir teacher and his father a former minor league baseball player and actor. He met his wife, Dawn, in the Mt. Eden High School show choir, and they got married in 2002.
