Jamie Demetriou

Jamie Demetriou (/dɪˈmiːtriuː/; born 1 November 1987) is an English comedian, actor and screenwriter. Born in the Friern Barnet area of London, he is the son of an English mother and Greek-Cypriot father. His elder sister, Natasia Demetriou, is a comedian and actress with whom he often collaborates. He began his education at The Compton School in North Finchley, developed his theater skills at the Chickenshed Theatre in Southgate, and then attended Bristol University.

Demetriou began his career with a series of successful student revue shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival from 2009 to 2011. His talents encompass multiple forms of comedic performance, including television acting in shows like Scrotal Recall, Drunk History, and Fleabag, to name a few. He is perhaps most well-known for creating, co-writing, and starring in the Channel 4 sitcom Stath Lets Flats, also featuring his sister and other notable actors. A significant year in his career was 2020, when he earned a trifecta of BAFTA Awards for Best Writer: Comedy, Male Performance in a Comedy Programme, and Best Scripted Comedy (as producer). His career also includes appearances in films such as Paddington 2 and the American miniseries adaptation of Four Weddings and a Funeral.
