Jasmine Cephas Jones

Jasmine Cephas Jones, born July 21, 1989, is an American-British actress and singer, widely recognized for originating the two characters of Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds in the renowned Broadway stage musical, Hamilton. Her stellar contribution to Hamilton's cast album garnered her a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. In 2020, her portrayal of Tyisha in #freerayshawn won her a Creative Arts Emmy. Born in London, England, but growing up in Midwood, Brooklyn, Jones is the daughter of actor Ron Cephas Jones and British-born jazz singer Kim Lesley.

She graduated from the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in 2011 after attending Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, and Berklee College of Music. Since then, Jones's career has spanned independent film roles, appearances in television series, and significant stage roles. She created history alongside her father by being the first father-daughter duo to win Emmy Awards in the same year, and breaking barriers as the first-ever Black woman to win in the Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series category. She made an impact in 2021 with her production credit for popular series Blindspotting, resuming her role as Ashley and achieving immense success. Her personal life saw her relationship with fellow Hamilton cast member Anthony Ramos, to whom she was engaged in 2018.
