Jason R. Reitman (born October 19, 1977) is a renowned Canadian-American filmmaker most significantly recognized for directing the films such as Thank You for Smoking (2005), Juno (2007), Up in the Air (2009), Young Adult (2011), Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021), and Saturday Night (2024). His accolades include one Grammy Award, one Golden Globe, and four Academy Award nominations, two of which were for Best Director. Reitman is a dual citizen of Canada and the United States and often collaborates with screenwriter Diablo Cody. Being born to an actress mother and a Slovak-Jewish film director father, Jason was brought up experiencing the film set atmosphere. His understanding and perceptions about moviemaking matured witnessing his father, Ivan Reitman's work on the sets of Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters II, Stripes, and Kindergarten Cop.

His career took off from small acting parts and being a production assistant on his father's films during the late 1980s. Over his career span, Reitman gained significative fame and success, receiving various awards for his work in Juno. Further nurturing his passion for filming, he started his production company 'Hard C Productions' in 2006 and later formed 'Right of Way Films' in 2009. Streamlining with his passion for filmmaking, he shifted towards directing commercials, short films, and occasionally venturing into television direction. His personal life endured transformation with him filing for divorce in 2011 from writer Michele Lee, marking the closure of a ten-year long relationship. He remains an avid part of the film industry, upholding his constant parade with creative and unique content.
