Jason Scott Lee, born November 19, 1966, is an American actor and martial artist of Hawaiian and Chinese descent. Though born in Los Angeles, he was raised in Hawaii and attended Pearl City High School. Lee's breakthrough came when he played the iconic role of Mowgli in Disney's 1994 live-action adaptation of The Jungle Book and portrayed Bruce Lee in the 1993 martial arts film Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story. Lee began his acting journey with small parts in smaller movies and gradually progressed to owning major roles. He became a name to reckon with martial arts after being trained in Bruce Lee's martial art, Jeet Kune Do. He even became a certified instructor under one of Bruce Lee's students, Jerry Poteet. This training was formidable in making his characters in different films like Rapa-Nui and the live-action adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book striking.
In 2000, he played Aladdin in the miniseries Arabian Nights. He provided voice for the 2002 Disney animated film Lilo & Stitch. Lee's versatility as an actor can be underlined by the wide variety of roles he has played, ranging from the main villain in the sci-fi film Soldier to roles in Timecop 2: The Berlin Decision and The Prophecy: Forsaken to more comedic roles in Balls of Fury. He has also rendered remarkable performances in the operatic world playing as The King of Siam in The King and I and the non-singing role of Pasha Selim in Abduction from the Seraglio. Lee hailed in the drama. Recently, he made a remarkable leap into the world of television with his appearance in the Disney+ series Doogie Kameāloha, M.D., a reboot of Doogie Howser, M.D.
