Jean Gruault

Jean Gruault was a prolific French screenwriter and occasional actor whose career spanned the transformative decades of post‑war French cinema. Born on 3 August 1924 in Fontenay‑sous‑Bois, Val‑de‑Marne, he entered the film world in the late 1950s, initially taking small acting roles before finding his true calling behind the camera as a writer. Over the course of his career, Gruelle contributed to twenty‑five films between 1960 and 1995, collaborating with some of the most celebrated directors of his era, including François Truffaut and Jean‑Luc Godard.
