Jennifer Jane Saunders is an acclaimed English actress, comedian, singer, and screenwriter. Born on 6 July 1958 in Sleaford, Lincolnshire, England, Saunders' career began gaining traction in the 1980s when she became a member of The Comic Strip after graduating from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. One of her most notable works is her sketch show, French and Saunders, which she co-wrote and starred in with her best friend and comedy partner, Dawn French. Simultaneously, she also gained recognition for writing and playing her character Edina Monsoon in her sitcom Absolutely Fabulous. Apart from her comedic genius, Saunders' life and career also encompass an extensive stint in drama school, a close association with Dawn French that evolved over the years, and numerous memorable performances in an array of comedy circuit arenas. Her film appearances include voicing characters in Shrek 2, Coraline, Minions, and the Sing series, among others. She has also displayed her writing flair by writing the script for the Spice Girls-based jukebox musical Viva Forever! and sharing a part of her life through her autobiography, Bonkers: My Life in Laughs.
