Joe Alwyn

Joseph Matthew Alwyn, born 21 February 1991, is an esteemed English actor. Alwyn's career kickstarted with the titular role in Ang Lee's war drama Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk in 2016. Since then, he has showcased his versatility across a variety of roles in films such as The Favourite, Boy Erased, Mary Queen of Scots, and Harriet. In 2022, he made his mark in the Hulu drama series Conversations with Friends and the period comedy film Catherine Called Birdy. Born in Kent and raised in North London, Alwyn nurtured an interest in acting during his teenage years. BA degrees in English literature and drama, and acting, from the University of Bristol and the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama brought him closer to his dreams. He also has a recognisable footprint in the music industry, having collaborated extensively with Taylor Swift on her songs released from 2020 to 2022, including tracks from Swift's eighth studio album, Folklore, that won the Album of the Year at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards. He continued to work in 2024, with a supporting role in Kinds of Kindness, an anthology film directed by Yorogos Lanthimos. Alwyn, known in the media as a "notoriously low-key actor", values his privacy highly and tends to keep his personal life out of the public domain.
