Joy Bryant

Joy Bryant, born October 18, 1974, is a talented and versatile American actress, entrepreneur, and fashion model. She has had a diverse career, featuring in numerous films and television series since her acting debut in 2001. Over her expansive career, she has received two NAACP Image Award nominations and one Screen Actors Guild Award nomination. Her storied career began as a fashion model, notable for her appearances in advertisements for Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Gap, and Victoria's Secret. It was in 2002 when her breakthrough moment in acting came as she was cast by Denzel Washington in the biographical drama Antwone Fisher. She was later given a recurring guest role on the NBC series ER, followed by substantial roles in Spider-Man 2, The Skeleton Key, Get Rich or Die Tryin', and Bobby. In the year 2010, Bryant landed a significant role in the NBC family drama series Parenthood, where she engaged audiences as Jasmine Trussell for six seasons. She also hosted her action talk show Across the Board with Joy Bryant, interviewing celebrity guests. She has graced television screens in guest roles on popular series like 'Girls' and 'Ballers'. Bryant was born and raised in the Bronx, New York. Besides being an accomplished actress and model, she defines herself as a 'nerd' who hugely values education. She graduated from Yale University, a path she embarked on after earning a scholarship based on her excellent academic records. Her modelling career took off while still enrolled at Yale after being discovered by a scout from Next Model Management.
