Julian Glover

Julian Wyatt Glover CBE (born 27 March 1935) is an accomplished English actor known for a plethora of stage, television and film roles. His classical training earned him the Laurence Olivier Award and he has performed for the Royal Shakespeare Company. Glover has a reputation for playing villains on the silver screen: he was General Maximilian Veers in 'The Empire Strikes Back' (1980), Aristotle Kristatos in 'For Your Eyes Only' (1981) and Walter Donovan in 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade' (1989). He also voiced the giant Acromantula spider Aragog in 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets' (2002), and appeared as Andris Davis in the psychological drama 'Tár' (2022).

Glover also has an impressive resume in television, mainly in the UK. He has guest starred in series such as 'The Avengers', 'The Saint', 'Thriller', 'Doctor Who', 'Blake's 7', 'Remington Steele', and 'Inside No. 9.' His recurring role as Grand Maester Pycelle in HBO's 'Game of Thrones' (2011–2016) was a crowd favorite, and he also worked as General Beauvilliers in the BBC drama 'Spies of Warsaw' (2013). Glover was born in Hampstead, London, to parents who were both involved in BBC productions. He was classmates with future actors Timothy West and David Prowse in Bristol Grammar School, and he graduated from the esteemed Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 1954.
