Kate Fleetwood (born 24 September 1972) is an acclaimed English actress having a versatile career spanning over stages, cinemas, and television productions. Fleetwood is best recognized for her extraordinary performance as Lady Macbeth in Macbeth, a performance that earned her a nomination for a Tony Award. The play was initially staged at Chichester Festival Theatre but soon made its way to the West End and Broadway due to its immense popularity. This was not her lone recognition though; Fleetwood's performance as Julie in London Road at the National Theatre brought her an Olivier Award nomination in 2012. Further enriching her portfolio are her roles in Vanity Fair (2004), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 (2010), Macbeth (2010), Philomena (2013), London Road (2015), Harlots (2017–2019), and The Wheel of Time (2021). Fleetwood's early years were spent on a farm in Arden, Warwickshire near Stratford-upon-Avon, and she is a graduate of Exeter University. Interestingly, she began her career at the Royal Shakespeare Company during her childhood. She is also the patron of En Masse Theatre, and together with her husband Rupert Goold, of Escape Arts' youth arts work. Her personal life involves a joyful married life with director Rupert Goold, who directed her in Macbeth; they share two children together.
