What's After the Movie
Kerry Bishé grew up in the suburban town of Glen Ridge, New Jersey, where she was immersed in a family that valued education—her father, Kenneth Bishé, taught social studies at Montclair Kimberley Academy, from which she graduated. She pursued higher education at Northwestern University, earning a Bachelor of Science in 2006 while simultaneously honing her craft on stage, notably touring with the Montana Shakespeare in the Parks as Juliet in Romeo and Juliet and appearing in productions of The Hairy Ape and Pygmalion. Bishé’s screen debut arrived in 2007 with the low‑budget film The Half Life of Mason Lake, followed by bit parts as an extra in the first Sex and the City film and The Lucky Ones. A small role in The Understudy (2008) and a lead in the unsold pilot Night Life—directed by Zach Braff—expanded her experience, laying the groundwork for future collaborations. Throughout 2009 she amassed a series of television appearances, from Life on Mars to Royal Pains, and headlined the TV movie derived from the failed sci‑fi pilot Virtuality.
