Kim Novak

Marilyn Pauline 'Kim' Novak (born February 13, 1933) is an American retired actress and accomplished painter remembered for her contributions to cinema and have been honored with two Golden Globe Awards, an Honorary Golden Bear, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. At the height of her career, Novak was lauded as one of Hollywood's top box office drawcards. She rose to fame in 1954 after signing a contract with Columbia Pictures, with notable performances in films like Picnic (1955), The Man with the Golden Arm (1955), and Pal Joey (1957). Her role in Alfred Hitchcock's thriller Vertigo (1958), currently regarded as one of the greatest films made, is particularly noteworthy.

Though she took a hiatus from acting in 1966, she returned sporadically to the screen in films and television series. Novak walked away from the limelight in 1991 following a disappointing experience during the filming of Liebestraum. In the intervening years, Novak found creative fulfillment in her art and poetry, often closely tied to her experiences in Hollywood. In recent times, she has received renewed appreciation for her body of work and made measured returns to public appearances.
