Laure Calamy

Laure Calamy is a well-recognized French actress, active from the year 2001 to the present day. She was born in 1975 in Orléans, France, and is renowned for her stellar performances in both film and theatre. The daughter of a psychologist and a doctor, Laure first ventured into the world of performance during her youth. After completing her baccalaureate, she sought to further enrich her acting prowess by studying at the Conservatoire de Paris and graduated from it in 2001. It was during her time at the Conservatoire that she met director Olivier Py who directed her in plays such as 'Au monde comme pas y être', 'Orlando ou l'impatience', and 'Les Parisiens'. Much praise was directed towards Laure's performances in the short films 'Ce qu'il restera de nous' directed by Vincent Macaigne and 'Un monde sans femmes' directed by Guillaume Brac, the latter even earning her the Jeanine Bazin prize at the Festival Entrevues de Belfort. Her portrayal in Cécile Ducrocq's short film 'Back Alley' (La contre-allée) was another one of her notable works. She initially started off with supporting roles in feature films, however, she gained prominence through her character Noémie in the TV series 'Call My Agent!' (Dix pour cent). Her other accolades include being nominated for the César Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Léa Mysius's 'Ava' and winning the same award for Best Actress for her role in Caroline Vignal's 'My Donkey, My Lover & I'. She has also been part of initiatives combating anti-LGBTQ+ bullying and promoting gender equality in the cinema and audio-visual sector.
