**Lennie Michael James**, born on 11 October 1965, is a well-regarded British actor and writer, distinguished for his roles in various TV series and movies. He gained worldwide fame for playing Morgan Jones in the AMC series The Walking Dead and its spin-off, Fear the Walking Dead, along with his role as DCI Tony Gates in Line of Duty series one. On American television, he depicted the enigmatic Robert Hawkins in the CBS series Jericho and Detective Joe Geddes in the AMC series Low Winter Sun. Critical acclaim greeted his creation and star performance in the 2018 Sky Atlantic drama series Save Me and its follow-up Save Me Too, which won the BAFTA TV Award for Best Drama Series 2021. James was born to Afro-Trinidadian parents and raised in South London, attending Ernest Bevin College and Guildhall School of Music and Drama. James has also been featured in more than 20 films, including significant works like Les Misérables (1998), Snatch (2000), and Sahara (2005). Known for his versatility, he has not only acted but also written the autobiographical TV film, Storm Damage. His TV appearances also include DC Carl Tanner in A Touch of Frost and starring as Robert Hawkins in Jericho. His performance as DCI Tony Gates in BBC’s Line of Duty in 2012 received positive critic recognition. In 2010, he starred as Morgan Jones in The Walking Dead, a role he reprised in subsequent seasons and carried over to the spin-off series Fear the Walking Dead. James also voiced the character Lord Shaxx in the games Destiny and Destiny 2.
