What's After the Movie
Lili Bordán (born 12 March 1982) is a Hungarian‑American actress, screenwriter, and producer whose career spans over two decades across both American and European productions. Born in Bronxville, New York, she is the daughter of celebrated Hungarian actress Irén Bordán, which gave her a bicultural upbringing and fluency in both English and Hungarian that would later inform her versatile performances. She pursued a rigorous academic path at Sarah Lawrence College, earning a degree that combined theater studies with 19th‑century Western literature, and honed her craft under the guidance of renowned acting coach Susan Batson before relocating to Hungary to launch her professional pursuits. Bordán made her onscreen debut in 2001 with a guest role on the flagship series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, quickly establishing herself as a reliable character actor in both television and film. Between 2003 and 2010 she amassed a diverse filmography, appearing in supporting parts such as the gritty thriller 8 mm 2 (2005) and the drama Joy Division (2006), while also headlining independent projects like Kinder Garden (2005) and Cherry (2010). Her television work expanded in 2007 with guest spots on Painkiller Jane, Robin Hood, and the Hungarian series Könyveskép, and she continued to earn recurring roles on notable series including Silent Witness (2011) as Anna Sándor and Casino (2011) as Mirtill. In February 2011 she joined the main cast of the Battlestar Galactica prequel Blood & Chrome, portraying Dr. Beka Kelly, a scientist entangled with the creation of the Cylons, a role that highlighted her ability to blend scientific gravitas with emotional nuance. The actress further demonstrated her range in the British thriller Two Days In The Smoke (released as The Smoke in the UK and London Payback internationally) where she played the troubled lead Jodie, and later collaborated with director Ben Pickering as Dr. Jones in Welcome to Curiosity (2018). Throughout her career, Bordán has consistently leveraged her bilingual background and classical training to deliver compelling performances across genres, establishing herself as a dynamic presence in contemporary cinema and television.
