Lin Shaye

**Lin Shaye**, born on October 12, 1943, is a prominent American actress with a career spanning over fifty years. Within her career, she has represented a plethora of characters in more than a hundred feature films. **Shaye** is highly regarded as a scream queen due to her influential roles in various horror productions, these include films like *Alone in the Dark*, *A Nightmare on Elm Street*, *Critters* and its sequels, *Amityville: A New Generation*, *Wes Craven's New Nightmare*, *Dead End*, *2001 Maniacs* and its sequel, *Ouija* and its prequel, *Tales of Halloween*, *Abattoir*, *The Final Wish*, *Room for Rent*, *The Grudge*, and the notable *Insidious* film series. Alongside her thrilling performances in horror, **Shaye** is also well recognized for her comedic roles in numerous films directed by the Farrelly brothers, notable among these are *Dumb and Dumber*, *Kingpin*, *There's Something About Mary*, *Detroit Rock City*, *Me, Myself & Irene*, *Stuck on You*, and *The Three Stooges*. **Lin Shaye** started her journey in the field of acting at the University of Michigan after which she moved to New York to appear in Off Broadway productions. In 1977, she decided to shift her base to Los Angeles to further pursue her acting career. Her first film debut was in a small role in *Hester Street*, followed by several small roles in movies and television shows. Over the years, she has continued to leave an impact with her strong character roles, earning nominations for various awards along her journey. She gained a Daytime Emmy Award in 2020 for Outstanding Guest Performer in a Digital Drama Series for her guest role on the dark comedy web series EastSiders.
