Luis Gnecco

**Luis Enrique Gnecco Dessy**, born on 12th December 1962, is a notable Chilean actor. His span in the industry is recognized with a long-standing career from 1978 to the present day. Acknowledged not just for his work in Chilean telenovelas and films, Gnecco's fame extends internationally for his performances in the renowned HBO's _Prófugos_ and the Netflix series _Narcos_. His contributions have been particularly memorable in films like _Johnny 100 Pesos_, the Academy Award-nominated _No_, _El bosque de Karadima_, _A Fantastic Woman_, and _Neruda_. While initially studying biology under Humberto Maturana among others, Gnecco eventually developed into an actor and a comedian. He further honed his skills at the Theatre academy of Fernando González. His career in telenovelas kicked off in 1985, with some prominent roles being in _Amores de mercado_, _Brujas_, and _Soltera otra vez_. His comedic flair was revealed strongly through shows like _De Chincol a Jote_, _El desjueves_ (1990–1995), and _Na' que ver con Chile_. In 2008, Gnecco won widespread recognition for playing the lead role in the Chilean version of _The Office_, titled _The ofis_. Moreover, his exceptional acting prowess led him to receive the Havana Star Prize for _Best Actor_ at the 17th Havana Film Festival New York in 2016 for his role in _El bosque de Karadima_.
