Madeline Brewer

Madeline Kathryn Brewer, an American actress born on May 1, 1992, is applauded for her recurring roles in the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black (2013) and Hemlock Grove (2014–2015). Currently, she stars as Janine Lindo in the Hulu series The Handmaid's Tale (2017–present), which brought her recognition and a Primetime Emmy Award nomination. Her notable filmography includes Braid, Cam (both 2018), and The Ultimate Playlist of Noise (2021). Brewer's career took a flight as she made her television debut in 2013 with a recurring character, Tricia Miller, in the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black. Later she scored a recurring role as Miranda Cates in Hemlock Grove. In 2016, she appeared in 'Men Against Fire', an episode of the anthology series Black Mirror. Madeline Brewer continued her rising fame in 2017 with leads in films like Hedgehog, and Flesh and Blood, and also by starring as Janine Lindo in The Handmaid's Tale.

Brewer was born and brought up in Pitman, New Jersey, being the daughter of actor and musician Laurie and Mark Brewer. She initiated her acting journey at the age of 8, with her performance in A Christmas Carol and was crowned Miss Pitman in 2010. Her pivotal career moment was when she starred as Dorothy in her high school musical, The Wiz. She is an accomplished graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, New York City. In recent years, she has also ventured into the realm of psychological horror with lead roles in Braid and Cam, 2018, followed by supporting roles in Captive State and Hustlers, 2019. She continued to showcase her versatile skills in the independent film Where Are You, in Hulu romantic comedy The Ultimate Playlist of Noise, 2021, and also performed roles in Separation, Space Oddity, 2022. Her West End stage debut was marked by her performance as Sally Bowles in the London production of Cabaret at the Playhouse Theatre, 2023.
