Markus Paterson

Markus Paterson (born Mark Paul Robert Paterson on 3 June 1998) is a Filipino‑British actor, singer, television host and footballer who has become a recognizable face in the Philippine entertainment scene. Born in London to a Filipino mother, Norma Mario Paterson, a Pangasinan entrepreneur, and a British father, George Trevor Paterson, a former Royal Air Force pilot, he grew up immersed in a multicultural environment that fostered his fluency in both English and Tagalog. From the age of six he displayed a passion for football, idolising Cristiano Ronaldo and later joining the professional ranks with Kaya F.C. Elite while studying Hospitality Management at Enderun Colleges. In 2007 his family relocated to Manila, where he attended Reedley International School, before a brief return to England and a permanent move back to the Philippines in 2016, the same year his entertainment career was launched after being scouted by a manager. His first major hosting role was as a VJ for MTV Philippines, presenting shows such as MTV Philippines Fuel, which showcased his natural charisma and on‑screen presence. Markus quickly expanded into acting, securing roles in television dramas and digital series, while also pursuing a music career under Tarsier Records, delivering pop tracks that blend his British upbringing with Filipino sensibilities. His personal life garnered media attention when he began a relationship with actress Janella Salvador, and the couple welcomed their son Jude on 20 October 2020 in Bath, Somerset, England. Despite the high‑profile romance, the pair have not married, and Markus continues to balance his multifaceted career across acting, hosting, singing, and professional football, cementing his status as a versatile talent in the region.
