Michael Sheen

Michael Christopher Sheen, commonly known as **Michael Sheen**, born on 5th February 1969, is a prolific Welsh actor. He initially gained recognition as a stage actor working mainly in theatre throughout the 1990s, receiving Olivier Awards nominations for his laudable performances in plays like _Amadeus_, _Look Back in Anger_, and _Caligula_. Making a substantial move to screen acting in the early 21st century, Sheen gained wider recognition for portraying high-profile roles like Tony Blair in _The Queen_, David Frost in _Frost/Nixon_, and a controversial football manager Brian Clough in _The Damned United_. Commencing from 2009, Sheen displayed his versatility through roles in popular movies like _Underworld_, _The Twilight Saga_, and _Tron: Legacy_, to mention a few. Also an acclaimed television actor, Sheen received a Golden Globe nomination for his role in Showtime's drama _Masters of Sex_. He also starred as an incarcerated serial killer surgeon in Fox's _Prodigal Son_ and played memorable roles in _Good Omens_ and _Quiz_. A socially and politically engaged actor, Sheen renounced his OBE in 2017 after researching on Wales's relationship with England. Born in Newport, Monmouthshire, Wales, Sheen was brought up in a theatrical family which notably influenced his career choice. He attended Glan Afan Comprehensive School and Neath Port Talbot College before moving to London to receive professional training at the esteemed Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Throughout his theatrical journey, Sheen's performances, particularly in _Romeo and Juliet_, _Henry V_, and his title role in _Hamlet_, garnered high praise.
