Mike Colter

Mike Colter (born August 26, 1976) is an acclaimed American actor, known for his impactful roles in a variety of settings. He gained widespread recognition for his role as Luke Cage in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, making his mark in the streaming television series Luke Cage (2016–2018), The Defenders (2017), and Jessica Jones (2015; 2019). But his range doesn't stop there. He has skillfully portrayed characters like Lemond Bishop in the television series The Good Wife (2010–2015) and The Good Fight (2018–2019), and looked at ease as Malcolm Ward in Ringer (2011–2012). Video game enthusiasts will recognize him from the Halo franchise (2014–2015), where he took on the role of Jameson Locke. Colter's versatility also saw him playing Agent J's father in Men in Black 3, and transitioning seamlessly into the part of David Acosta, a former journalist studying to become a Catholic priest in the CBS/Paramount+ series Evil (2019–2024).

Before his acting career took off, Colter attended several academic institutions, enhancing his talent along the way. The Calhoun County High School alumnus was voted 'most ambitious' by his peers during his senior year. After taking a gap year at Benedict College, he transferred to the University of South Carolina, where he earned a bachelor's degree in theater in 1999. His education didn't stop there, he later went on to earn an MFA in acting from the Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts. He then set off on his acting journey, earning roles in TV movies, guest starring on various Law and Order shows, ER, and The Parkers. He eventually landed his breakout role in the film Million Dollar Baby, and his career took off from there.
