Mitsuko Baisho, born in Ibaraki Prefecture, is a renowned Japanese actress known for her significant contributions to the film industry in Japan. Her most popular works have been for director Shohei Imamura, from 1979 up to the director's final film in 2010. Notably, Baisho has also graced films directed by the iconic Akira Kurosawa. Throughout her illustrious career, she garnered several awards for her remarkable acting skills. She won the prestigious best actress award at the 10th Hochi Film Award for her roles in Love Letter by Tatsumi Kumashiro and Ikiteru Uchi ga Hana nano yo Shindara Sore made yo to Sengen.
