**Mélanie Laurent** (French pronunciation: [melani loʁɑ̃]) is a renowned French actress, filmmaker, and singer. Born on the 21st of February, 1983, in Paris, France, her diverse and impressive career spans several decades. Her entry into acting was at the age of sixteen when acclaimed actor Gérard Depardieu cast her in a small role in 'The Bridge' (1999). Her screen presence soon gained popularity through her work in several French films, eventually leading to her Hollywood debut in the infamous Quentin Tarantino's blockbuster war film 'Inglourious Basterds' in 2009. Laurent has considerably contributed to the independent cinema scene, acting in films like 'Paris' (2008) and 'Enemy' (2013), while also appearing in various commercially successful international films. She voiced the characters of Mary Katherine in 'Epic' (2013), and 'Disgust' in 'Inside Out' (2015) in their French versions. Additionally, Laurent's directorial prowess started to shine with her debut film 'The Adopted' (2011).
