Moka Kamishiraishi

Moka Kamishiraishi (上白石萌歌, born February 28, 2000) is a Japanese actress, singer, and fashion model who entered the entertainment world at an exceptionally young age after winning the 7th Toho Cinderella Audition in 2011. At ten years old she became the youngest Grand Prix winner out of more than forty‑four thousand applicants, securing a place in Toho Entertainment’s Cinderella Room alongside her older sister Mone, who later also rose to fame. She debuted as an exclusive model for Pichi Lemon in September 2011, juggling school life in Kagoshima and work in Tokyo until relocating to the capital during middle school. Kamishiraishi’s acting career began with the Wowow drama Bunshin in 2012, and she quickly expanded to television, film, and voice work, earning critical accolades such as the Newcomer of the Year award at the 42nd Japan Academy Film Prize for her role in A Forest of Wool and Steel (2018). Her voice performance as Kun Ota in Mamoru Hosoda’s acclaimed animated feature Mirai (2018) contributed to the film’s international recognition at Cannes, the Academy Awards, and the Golden Globes. In parallel with acting, she pursued a music path under the stage name adieu, releasing her first single in 2015 and debuting fully as a singer in 2019 with Sony Music Records; she has since appeared multiple times on The First Take YouTube channel and released several mini‑albums. Beyond the screen, Kamishiraishi has been the face of major commercial campaigns, such as Kirin’s “Gogo no Kocha” teas, and has performed in stage productions including Anne of Green Gables and Kiki’s Delivery Service. She studied humanities at Meiji Gakuin University, graduating in 2023, and continues to blend artistic pursuits with personal interests like photography, running, and marine biology, the latter reflecting a lifelong fascination with fish that she once considered a career in.
