Morten Tyldum

Morten Tyldum, born 19 May 1967, is a renowned Norwegian film director. Tyldum is best known in his homeland, Norway, for directing the thriller film Headhunters (2011), adapted from the novel written by Jo Nesbø. Internationally recognized, he is known for directing the historical drama The Imitation Game (2014), which earned him a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Director, and the science fiction drama Passengers (2016). Born in Bergen, Norway, Tyldum attended the School of Visual Arts in New York where he pivoted from ambition to be a musician to pursue film. He made his mark with his feature film debut, Buddy in 2003, which won considerable popularity and critical acclaim. Before Buddy, he had experience in television, music videos, commercials, and short films and was even named Film Talent of the Year by newspaper Dagbladet in 1999. Tyldum's filmography includes Fallen Angels (2008) and Headhunters (Hodejegerne) - 2011, which became the highest-grossing Norwegian film that year. His first English language film was The Imitation Game, a film about the life of mathematician Alan Turing, leading to international success, with eight Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and a Best Director nomination for Tyldum.
