Norbert Leo Butz, born January 30, 1967, is a renowned American actor and singer, largely recognized for his contributions to Broadway theatre. The St. Louis, Missouri native is a two-time recipient of the prestigious Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical, a feat accomplished by merely nine actors in history. Raised in a devout Catholic, middle-class family, Butz was the seventh of 11 children. He discovered his passion for theater early and bagged his first roles at local all-girl high schools. His academic pursuits took him to The Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University and The University of Alabama for a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts respectively. Butz's personal life has been marked by a series of highs and lows, from the tragic murder of his sister in 2009 to the joys of fatherhood with his three daughters.
