Oren Moverman

Oren Moverman (Hebrew: אורן מוברמן; born July 4, 1966) is an Israeli American, Academy Award-nominated screenwriter, film director, and Emmy Award-winning film producer. He received significant acclaim for directing films like The Messenger, Rampart, Time Out of Mind, and The Dinner, as well demonstrating his strong storytelling abilities through his screenwriting. His portfolio is broad, even featuring a Paramount+ documentary series 'Willie Nelson & Family' alongside Thom Zimny. Born in Jaffa (Yafo), Israel, Moverman's career trajectory is marked by his unique cultural perspective. As an Ashkenazi Jew growing up in Givatayim and spending his teenage years in the US, he served in the Israel Defense Forces before moving permanently to the States and graduating from Brooklyn College in 1992. His filmography ranges from Jesus' Son to the experimental Bob Dylan biographical film I'm Not There, the Arabic-language hip-hop film Junction 48, and many more. His directorial breakthrough came in 2009 with 'The Messenger', winning various international awards and securing an Academy Award nomination. Other noteworthy projects include his directorial work in 2011's 'Rampart', 2014's 'Time Out of Mind', and 2017's 'The Dinner'.
