Paris Whitney Hilton (born February 17, 1981) is an American media personality, businesswoman, socialite, model, singer, actress, and DJ. Born in New York City and raised there and in Los Angeles, she is a great-granddaughter of Conrad Hilton, the founder of Hilton Hotels. Raised in a conservative and wealthy family, Hilton's entry into the world of glamour was marked with parties, expensive clothes and a luxurious lifestyle. She first gained media attention in the late 1990s for her presence in NYC's social scene, and ventured into modeling in 2000. A reality television series The Simple Life (2003–2007), in which she co-starred with her friend Nicole Richie, and a leaked 2003 sex tape, catapulted her to global fame. Apart from this, her media ventures have included various reality television series, documentaries, books as well as a podcast. She has explored her acting interests in numerous films and also released standalone singles and studio albums. Forbes included her in its Celebrity 100 in 2004, 2005, and 2006. Hilton's personal life has been under constant media scrutiny and she has been subjected to several legal issues.
