What's After the Movie
Perdita Rose Weeks (born 25 December 1985) is a British actor best known for her portrayal of Juliet Higgins in the modern reboot of Magnum P.I.. Born in Cardiff, Glamorgan, Wales, she grew up in the English countryside where her family nurtured a strong artistic spirit; her parents Robin and Susan Weeks encouraged both Perdita and her siblings to pursue performance, leading to the acting careers of her sister Honeysuckle and brother Rollo. Weeks attended the prestigious Roedean School in East Sussex before studying art history at the Courtauld Institute in London, a background that has informed her nuanced understanding of period pieces and character development. She began her screen career at the age of seven with an uncredited appearance alongside her sister in the 1993 television film Goggle Eyes, and earned early recognition playing the younger version of her sister's character in The Rag Nymph (1997). Her breakthrough came with the role of Mary Boleyn in the Showtime historical drama The Tudors (2007–08), where she demonstrated a capacity for complex, emotionally charged performances. This was followed by a starring turn as Lydia Bennet in ITV’s Lost in Austen (2008), showcasing her comedic timing and versatility. Weeks continued to diversify her portfolio with guest spots on series such as Midsomer Murders (2003), Lewis (2009), and the radio comedy Bleak Expectations (2007). She also appeared in feature films including Miss Potter (2006), the horror titles Prowl (2010) and As Above, So Below (2014), and the miniseries The Promise (2011). In 2018, Weeks was cast as the sharp‑tongued detective Juliet Higgins in the CBS remake of Magnum P.I., a role she carried over to NBC when the series transitioned networks in 2022. Over five seasons and 96 episodes, she earned praise for bringing a modern feminist edge to the classic character, solidifying her status as a prominent figure in contemporary television.
