Philippe Katerine

Philippe Blanchard, known professionally as Philippe Katerine, is a French singer-songwriter, actor, artist, director and writer who began his career in 1991. Starting off with a musical style often described as easy-listening with bossa nova accents, Katerine incorporated elements of rock and electronic music into his repertoire. He began attracting attention as an actor in 2010 with films like Gainsbourg, A Heroic Life and critically-acclaimed comedy I am a No Man's Land. In 2015, he played head of state in Gaz de France. He continued to appear in comedies like La Tour 2 contrôle infernale (2016), Hibou (2016), and Le Petit Spirou (2017). He received a César Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Sink or Swim at the 44th César Awards.

In 2022, Katerine founded the artistic movement Le Mignonisme, distinguishing it with the mascot Monsieur Rose, an inflatable sculpture exhibited in various parts of the world. Performing at the Paris Olympic Games in 2024 painted blue and semi-naked, he further consolidated his artistic reputation. Katerine began his musical career in 1991 with his debut album Les Mariages Chinois. Known for his self-doubt and anxiety, Katerine often composed and recorded in a home studio. The album Mes Mauvaises Fréquentations (1996) marked a turning point in his career, resulting in wider critical and commercial success. Katerine is also known for his collaboration with The Recyclers, which influenced his work significantly.
