Rhys Muldoon

Rhys Muldoon (born 17 October 1965) is an Australian film and television actor, radio personality, writer, director and voice‑over artist whose career spans more than three decades. He first came to public attention in the early 1990s with roles in cult series such as The Genie from Down Under and Chances, and quickly established himself as a versatile performer capable of moving from comedy to drama. Muldoon’s breakthrough came with the critically acclaimed series Grass Roots (2000‑02), where his portrayal of scheming general manager Greg Dominelli earned him an AFI nomination, and he later cemented his reputation with a lead role in the BAFTA‑nominated children’s drama Lockie Leonard (2007‑08). Alongside his television work, he has appeared in Oscar‑nominated films like The Saviour (2006) and in independent features such as Bitter & Twisted (2008) and Steven Soderbergh’s mysterious “Secret Film Project” (2010). His voice has narrated celebrated autobiographies, including Shane Warne’s No Spin and John Eales’ memoir, showcasing his distinctive vocal talent. Muldoon is also a celebrated children's music artist, releasing two ARIA‑nominated albums – I’m Not Singing (2011) and Perfect Is the Enemy of Good (2015) – both co‑written with Kram of Spiderbait. In theatre, he has tackled demanding roles from Tony Blair in David Hare’s Stuff Happens to Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet, demonstrating a commitment to the stage that complements his screen work. His writing spans newspapers, magazines and books, including a collaborative biography of Toulouse‑Lautrec for the National Gallery of Australia and a children’s title with former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd. Outside of his artistic pursuits, Muldoon is a passionate supporter of the St Kilda Football Club, a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts, and a devoted father to his daughter, Lotte May Muldoon.
