Robert Ray Shafer Jr., born on April 10, 1958, is an American character actor who has graced both film and television screens with his performances. Sometimes credited as Bobby Ray Shafer, he is perhaps best known for his role as Bob Vance, Vance Refrigeration, on the widely renowned American sitcom, The Office. His portrayal of this character has earned him a significant place in the hearts of many fans around the globe. Shafer has also managed to gather a substantial cult following due to his performance as Officer Ted Warnicky, more commonly recognized as Joe Vickers, in the 1989 horror-comedy Psycho Cop as well as its sequel, Psycho Cop 2. After completing his high school education in Romeo, Michigan, in 1976, Shafer attended Broward College in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It was after this that he moved to Los Angeles where he explored the glamorous world of modelling and honed his acting skills under the guidance of Peggy Feury.
