Rupert Simeon Graves is an esteemed English film, television, and theatre actor known for his diverse roles across multiple platforms. Born on 30 June 1963 in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, England, Graves began his acting journey in 1978 and has remained active ever since. He is celebrated for roles in films like A Room with a View, Maurice, The Madness of King George, and The Forsyte Saga. From 2010 to 2017, he portrayed the character DI Lestrade in the BBC television series Sherlock.

Graves gained initial fame from costume-drama adaptations of E.M. Forster's novels A Room with a View (1985) and Maurice (1987). His acting prowess can be seen in over 25 films and more than 35 television productions. Some of his highly appreciated performances include roles in A Handful of Dust (1988), Different for Girls (1996), and Intimate Relations (1996).
