What's After the Movie
Santiago Cabrera, born on 5 May 1978, is a Chilean actor primarily recognized for his roles in prominent UK and US television series. He is notably known for playing the character Isaac Mendez in NBC's superhero drama 'Heroes', Lancelot in the BBC drama series 'Merlin', and Aramis in 'The Musketeers'. He also gained prominence after starring as Darius Tanz in the CBS drama 'Salvation' and as Captain Cristóbal 'Cris' Rios on the Paramount+ series 'Star Trek: Picard'.
Santiago was born in Caracas, Venezuela, while his father, a Chilean diplomat, was stationed there. His upbringing included various locations like Romania, Toronto, and Madrid, due to his father's career. However, Santiago primarily grew up in England before his family finally moved back to Chile when he was fifteen. Santiago began his acting career, almost by accident, after teachers encouraged him to try it. He trained at the Drama Centre London from 2000 to 2003, and during his final year there, he got his break with small roles in various British television series. After graduation, his first major work was in Shakespeare's 'Othello'. Cabrera also had a semi-professional football career in London before he fully committed to acting. He appeared in Soccer Aid charity football matches in support of UNICEF in 2008 and 2014. Recently, he also played a part in Disney's 'Godmothered' in 2020.
