What's After the Movie
**Shaun Roger White**, born September 3, 1986, is an American former professional snowboarder and skateboarder. Regarded as a five-time Olympian and a three-time Olympic gold medalist mainly prominent in half-pipe snowboarding, he holds an impressive record for having won the most X Games gold medals and most Olympic gold medals by a snowboarder. Throughout his career, White received 10 ESPY Awards in various categories. He was born in San Diego, California, to parents Cathy and Roger. Having a congenital heart defect, White underwent two open-heart operations before the age of one. Despite his health challenges, he spent his early years snowboarding with his family in the San Bernardino Mountains. White's talents quickly drew admiration. Professional skateboarder Tony Hawk befriended the young White and mentored him, which paved the way for White to turn pro in skateboarding at the age of 16. His remarkable talent led him to win many titles on his skateboard, becoming the first person to compete in and win both the Summer and Winter X Games in two different sports. He began his snowboarding journey at the age of six and went on to participate in five Winter Olympics in his career, taking home gold in the snowboard halfpipe event in 2006, 2010, and 2018. In his personal life, White underwent two open-heart surgeries as an infant, and he has fulfilled 17 wishes through the Make-A-Wish Foundation since 2008. He has been in a relationship with actress Nina Dobrev since 2020, and the couple became engaged on October 30, 2024.
