Simu Liu

**Simu Liu** is a notable Canadian actor and author, recognized worldwide for his role as Shang-Chi in Marvel's 2021 film, _Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings_. Born on 19 April 1989 in Harbin, China, Liu moved to Canada at age 5, where he grew up in Kingston and later in Mississauga, Ontario. His first major television success came with the CBC sitcom _Kim's Convenience_, where he played Jung Kim from 2016 to 2021. Liu made his breakthrough in Hollywood playing Shang-Chi, Marvel's first film with an Asian-led cast. Even after significant success, Liu stayed connected to his roots, authoring a memoir in 2022 titled _We Were Dreamers_. This acclaim led to his inclusion in Time's 100 most influential people in the world for the year.
